Well, that didn’t go quite how we hoped! I ended last week’s post (Orient Nerd Weekly Ramblings: Taking Stock of Orient’s Start to 2026/27.) suggesting that our next four matches were tough games, but if we could pick up a decent number of points “then there is reason to be optimistic that this could be […]
Thankfully, that is the international break interruption out of the way, for us at least, and we can now go back to focusing on all things Orient. Until the next one in November that is! With only seven league matches in the books, it is probably a tad early to conduct any meaningful analysis of […]
As soon as I heard about this book being released, (from the editor of the Leyton Orientear fanzine, no less!), I was absolutely desperate to read it. My formative football obsessive years coincided almost exactly with the explosion of the football fanzine movement in the latter half of the 80’s and into the 90’s. As […]
We needed that! It certainly wasn’t pretty, nor was it a game of scintillating free-flowing football, but the fact that we ground out a win against Stevenage last Saturday was very welcome indeed. Having lost all three of our opening home league games this season, while demonstrating a very evident susceptibility to balls into our […]
177 days! That is how long it has been since we last heard “Rockin’ All Over the World” over the Tannoy at Brisbane Road after a league game. Since that 2-0 victory, ironically over Saturday’s opposition Wycombe Wanderers on the 21st of March, we have lost to Huddersfield, Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and now Wycombe, and […]
It has been another week of mixed results for Orient: a hard-fought point away at Luton followed by a capitulation in the League Cup at home to Bradford. If I am completely honest, I wasn’t expecting too much from the trip to Kenilworth Road last Saturday. However, credit where it is due, the O’s gritted […]
It is really difficult to know what to make of Orient so far this season. A disappointing defeat is followed by an encouraging performance, only for us to then lose again and then bounce back with a resounding victory. At times the squad looks like it is building its understanding, at others it almost seems […]
After the frustration of the opening match of the league season at home to Sheffield Wednesday, it was vital that the players showed a response. They certainly did that in the trip to Wigan last Saturday with another encouraging performance, this time with the positive result that our efforts merited. Scoring first, and early, felt […]
An early and quick post this week, as the missus and I are away to celebrate her birthday for the next few days. Rest assured though, we will be wending our way to Wigan on Saturday morning! I am not 100% sure why but despite Orient showing some encouraging signs, especially in the first half, […]
It all felt a bit surreal on Saturday afternoon, with our first competitive match of the 2026/27 season being an EFL Trophy tie against an Oxford United side who were relegated from the Championship at the end of the last season. The decision to move the first round of the League Cup to the weekend […]
